James and Holly traveled from London for their beautiful Portugal wedding at Forte de São João da Barra. The fort is located in Tavira on the southern coast of Portugal and was built in the second half of the 17th century. This venue was absolutely unique and when I think of Holly and James I can’t imagine any other place being as perfect as this nostalgic Portuguese fort was for their wedding. I remember thinking when I got Holly’s initial inquiry that this wedding is going to be a dream. I also *cough* naturally did a bit of stalking on Instagram and found out that Holly is an amazing stylist- you can read her blog here. After meeting both Holly and James and loving them it was the trifecta of excitement. The venue, the style, the personalities I thought it really couldn’t get better. But it did get better because honestly, they are so in love. I don’t think I could ever forget the smile on Holly’s face after saying her vows and I earnestly believe anyone would have been hard-pressed to find two happier people on the planet. Is this Dramatic enough yet? Good. Because it was that perfect.

Holly started her day with her bridesmaids at a nearby boutique Hotel, while James and his groomsmen stayed at the Fort. The ceremony was full of laughter and tears as their relationship was described by family and friends. Through the reception, I think the best word to describe the atmosphere was celebratory. Everyone present was truly celebrating Holly and James and it was amazing. One thing Ryan and I both noticed about Holly and James was how kind they both were. Holly continually complimented her bridesmaids and was so encouraging telling them how beautiful they looked. James was so thoughtful and considerate as well keeping every detail in mind. We always enjoy our weddings- there is something about witnessing the happiest day of people’s lives that never loses its sentiment but noticing these qualities about Holly and James made it such a joy for us to document their day. Their excitement and happiness was truly contagious and this is one of the most beautiful things to photograph.
